PAWS’ Phillip Taylor reveals to Music Editor, Ross Dunn the band’s biggest secret. . .
When did the band form?
PAWS formed in January 2010. Although we had all played in various bands prior to the final PAWS line up.
Where’s your hometown?
Phillip hails from a small town in the Highlands called Tain. Josh is originally from Edinburgh but moved to the Highlands in high school. Matt is from Glasgow. We’ve come from all corners, but are now based in Glasgow.
Define your music in one word…
Anthropophobia.
Have you released, or will you be releasing any new material in 2011?
PAWS released their debut single “Violet Vicky Violet” on Glasgow label Wise Blood Industries in June 2010. Since then we have also released two limited runs of cassette tapes aswell as a debut E.P (Mermaid EP) that was self-released in March 2011. The band have recorded all their own material to date, handmade artwork and distributed their releases from home.
What other artists inspire you as a band?
A lot of people I suppose. Anyone that motivates us. Alot of the bands we’ve shared stages with over the past year have been super encouraging. Kim Deal.
What does it mean for you guys to play T-Break?
We are really proud that we’ve been asked to play. In the past year we’ve just done our own thing and put out records, played anywhere that would have us and really put all our time and effort into PAWS. I guess we never expected anyone to bat an eyelid and we just feel really thankfull. Especially if you are from Tain… We love making music together and this year we are going to just keep doing our thing and to try and take the next step.

Weezer.
Favourite animal?
Cat/Red Panda/Otter/Fox/Bear (Polar or Grizzly) Too many.
