The T-Break Interviews: Lady North

Lady North met at a single fathers support group and have came up with a ridiculous name for their music

Lady North: vain lads

When did the band form?

The band formed about a year and a bit ago. In our group of friends you either snowboarded or played instruments. We played instruments and started a band.

Where’s your hometown?

Edinburgh.

Define your music in one word…

Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop.

Have you released, or will you be releasing any new material in 2011?

We are going to be releasing a split 7″ with our good friends PAWS on Gerry Loves Records at the end of July/start of August. It’s a kind of split EP with downloads etc. Sex.

What other artists inspire you as a band?

These Arms Are Snakes, Prince and George Clinton.

What does it mean for you guys to play T-Break?

It’s an amazing honour that we’ve been selected to take part in T Break. Every young musician growing up in Scotland dreams of playing T in the Park, we’re so delighted that this year we have this amazing opportunity and we intend to make the most of it.

What other bands playing T-Break get you excited?

We’re very excited about seeing PAWS (we get excited just thinking about them), Conquering Animal Sound (we all have a crush on Jamie) and United Fruit (they make us want to smash our instruments up).

What other bands playing T in the Park get you excited?

Manic Street Preachers, Big Country and Slash.

 Favourite animal?

Giraffes (love their sexy pins).

Something we don’t know about your band…

We actually met at a single fathers support group.
