After concluding his coaching duties on the UK version of The Voice, Will.I.Am returns to the charts with his second single to be taken from his up and coming solo album #willpower. Co-produced by Swedish House Mafia’a Steve Angello, This is Love is a great eletro-hop track which is sure to become a club anthem over the summer.
Opening with a killer piano hook which filters its way throughout the track, the melody slowly builds and suddenly drops the dance floor beat. Will gives relatively unknown Dutch singer Eva Simons her chance to shine on the track. Although she only sings three words over and over again, she gives a pretty good vocal performance, and is a welcome addition to the song.
What holds the track back to a certain extent is Will.I.Am’s lyrics, which are pretty awful at times. But overall This is Love is a excellent track from the American artist. A massive step up from the terrible T.H.E (The Hardest Ever).
