Ellie Goulding has once again paired up with rap sensation Tinie Tempah for her latest track Hanging On and, with Goulding taking the reins this time around, the Wonderman duo has produced another irresistible record.
The song, which sees Goulding cover an Active Child tune of the same name, features typically classy vocals from the singer as she carries the track through its early stages on top of a progressive backing beat. The backing, which starts off with a dreamlike string segment, builds up to include a more modern edge, but the focus is entirely on Goulding’s brilliant vocals whenever she is singing.
Tinie Tempah’s entrance adds an essential essence of life to the tune, giving the track a brilliant mix of an anthemically surreal sound and sick lyrics, making sure the record is one that you could listen to whether falling asleep or heading into town.
If this single is a sign of things to come from Goulding, then it seems we should certainly keep an eye out for any future releases. Another top class effort from this formidable collaboration.
